Robby had his year High Risk Clinic Visit today. He first saw the RN and got all his measurements done....He weighs 24.02 pounds, which is in the 50th% for someone his corrected age (due date age), he is 29 7/8" tall, which is in the 50th% and his head circumference is 49.8 cm, which is in the 97th%....it's because he needs room for all his smart brains and funny personality.
He saw two physicians after that and they examined him for quite a while and found nothing to be wrong.
Following that, he had is Audiology testing done. That was interesting because we went into a sound proof room and they'd play all sorts of different tones followed by a monkey playing a drum set off to the side afterwards. They got Robby trained to look at the monkey after he would hear the different tones. He had someone in front of him trying to keep his attention, but he'd hear the sounds and would turn his head to see the drums going off. It was very interesting because you could tell he wanted to pay attention to the person in front of him, but he wanted to see the drums. They then put a probe in each ear (one at a time) and someone behind the two way mirror would talk to him and tell him to look at things.
We had lunch after that and I was hoping he would take a nap, but he was too busy checking everything out. We went up to the NICU since we had an hour to kill and saw Barb (at the front desk) Michael Neufield, the doctor that took excellent care of them for their first month of life...he's an awesome doctor! We also saw Terry, Susan & Chrissy...all RN's that took awesome care of both of them. Robby met his drug dealer (the pharmacist) and the dietician too. It's always so much fun going to visit there, especially when I have the boys with me. I need to bring my camera and start taking pictures of these special people that made Robby & Jacob's life possible.
No nap and it was time to see the psychologist. He was very nice and played a ton of games with Robby checking all his mental and motor skills. Robby did very well and it was fun to watch him try to figure out some of the games. It is unfortunate Robby hadn't taken a nap because he wasn't his normal self. He was pretty quiet and wasn't doing his funny things and laughing.
We left with a very encouraging report card and they don't need to see him again for another year.
Leaving the hospital wasn't too easy because the fire alarm went off and the elevators we needed wouldn't move so we found some that did and they got detoured when we got off of them and had to walk around the outside of the hospital. It was a nice day and a nice walk, so no big deal.
We picked up Jacob from day care and I tried to get them to nap when we got home because we had company on their way. Jacob slept a little, but Robby was too stimulated. Their Great Auntie Maddie and her BF Roger showed up around 5pm. Robby warmed up to them pretty quickly and was busy laughing and playing games with Roger. I got Jacob up and after he woke up, he was right in there with "the boys" playing and laughing. Aunt Maddie got some cuddle time in too.

Robby crashed pretty easily after dinner, but Jacob was up until 9pm and just wanted to play and cuddle with me.
It was a really nice day and I enjoyed spending time alone with Robby. Next Wednesday Jacob goes in for the same testing, so we'll have our special time together then.
